Clarasonic Cleansing Mia's

Basically I personally don't rate them. That's only after one try with a light cleanser whilst I was visiting New York in a Sephora store, but it didn't remove Kat Von D foundation off the back of my hand which is what I would've wanted it to do regardless of what cleanser I used it with. It's cheaper if you happen to be in the US if you're living in the UK like I am, which is a plus however, you probably wouldn't be covered with the manufacturers guarantee or you might not be able to get a full refund. I haven't quite looked into it in-depth so I'd do my research before hand. Maybe I'll change my mind if I try a newer version or something, but right now? I think it's just a fancy face flannel or exfoliator that I wouldn't use everyday on my skin. What do you think of the cleansing machines?

Update and Eye makeup removers

First post of 2011! I hope every had a great holiday whether it was celebrated with endless parties or just quiet nights in keeping snug and warm :)

I think I will be doing a slight new change to how I write posts now. So instead of writing upcoming posts that I possibly won't write at the end, instead I will just leave that out and just write as I go. And I mostly don't end up writing them because they simply didn't make much of an impression or it was just an average product xD
On to eye makeup removers!...

So I've tried a few eye makeup removers so far:
-Estée Lauder
-Boots Botanics
-Shills
-Clinique
-Boots No7
-Lancôme

And my favourite one so far is Estée Lauder Gentle Eye Makeup Remover£17, 100ml

I like this one because it effectively dissolves the make up almost straight away, so it doesn't smudge around your eyes. And it even removes waterproof mascara! It doesn't have any separate oil in it so you don't need to shake it up every time and it isn't too oily on the lids either. So now the Estée Lauder one is my staple eye makeup remover and will keep repurchasing it until I stumble upon a better one!
The least effective on the list as the Boots No7 one as it just smudged the make up around my eyes... I had panda eyes after every time I used it.

So now that I've found my all time favourite eye makeup remover, I'd recommend this one for people with oily/combination skin that loves to wear eye makeup and it's totally worth your £'s

Painless Waxing?

Okay so maybe it isn't exactly WAXING, but I think it can compare WITHOUT the pain!

Veet Suprem' Essence In Shower Cream 135ml - £6.49

I have used in-shower hair removal creams from the Veet range before, and I find them quite effective on fine/normal hair. So, specifically for leg hair! If used correctly it takes away the whole length of hair, and it's results last almost as long as waxing (1-2weeks) which is better than shaving but not quite as lasting.
For first time users, you may need to apply the cream twice, leaving the recommended amount of time between applications. All the instructions are included within the package, and must be followed with caution, because it is a big tube of chemicals after all!

The maximum of time the cream is allowed on your skin in 6mins, so on virgin hair you want to apply a thick but even amount all over the legs with the sponge in small strokes (not rubbing in!). Make sure you cover the whole length of hair as that's what you want to remove after all, so you may end up looking like your wearing really long leg warmers of cream! Then after 6mins of the cream working it's magic, you can hop in the shower and gently massage the cream off with the rough side of the included sponge. And like I stated before one application might not be enough, but when your washing the cream off the chemicals are still working so wait until after you dry off to start evaluating the results! And repeat the process if necessary AFTER 72 hours.

Regardless of whether the cream removes all of your hairs or not, there are super moisturising properties in this new formula that they have brought out. It states on the package:

"Veet Suprem' Essence formula has been enriched with a blend of essential oils and velvet rose to leave your skin moisturised and delicately scented. No more cuts or unpleasant depilatory cream smell. Thanks to a unique combination of water resisting ingredients the cream has the power to stay on the skin in the shower."

Which I felt it does moisturise more than the original formula, but I would team it with a moisture packed body butter afterwards to get the full silky smooth experience!

Always remember to READ the precautions and instructions before use.

Face scrubs & Exfoliators

I've been putting this post off for a while now, but here it is~

From left to right -
Clinique 7 day Scrub Cream
L'Oréal Perfect Clean - Foaming Gentle Scrub (Exfoliating, All skin types)
Clean and Clear Oil Free Exfoliating Daily Wash

I think the Clean and Clear Exfoliating Daily Wash was probably the first face exfoliator that I used. It's super gentle for everyday and it's also oil free, which is perfect for people with normal/combination skin. It's got little micro-beads in it that help to clean out your pores and leaves your skin feeling cleansed and soft. I did repurchase this beacause I felt it really helped clean my face that bit further than just a face wash, but I think I wanted to invest in a better scrub that I can use once a week as a deep cleanse.

So that's when I bought the Clinique 7 Day Scrub Cream, along with the Clinique 3 step (review is here). Unlike an exfoliator, a scrub is essentially like a body scrub with small granules in it, except they're smaller and more gentle for the face. I think when you use this, you really have to take your time and carefully massage it in to get some results. I've almost finished the tube and I've been using it with the Scrublet you get with the L'Oréal Perfect Clean, which I think helps to leather and unclog the pores.

I love the little Scrublet! It's small and time saving, so you only need to buff it all over your face a few times with the exfoliator and it's done~ I haven't used the L'Oréal exfoliator yet, it's just been sitting in the bathroom waiting to be used since I first got it in Superdrug at the introductory price! So I'll do a separate review on it, and I'm not sure what to expect.

A Face Mask That Burns Your Face??

This is the Superdrug Cooling Face Mask - Cucumber, one of the 4 Superdrug facemasks that I'm trying out. See my last face mask post for details.)

Okay so maybe I exaggerated a little..

But once I applied this face mask, it almost immediately started to sting my face; particularly around my cheeks and mouth. The stinging sensation was not 'gentle and tingling' AT ALL, it felt like miniature bee stings all over my face, that was so overwhelmingly painful that I almost passed out. And believe me, my pain tolerance is pretty decent! Thankfully it didn't sting SO much after it started to dry, but I really couldn't last the recommended minimum 5mins and had to wash it off.

On the packet it claims:
"Deeply cleanses, hydrates, and refreshes"

But I felt that afterwards it didn't hydrate at all, and if they think causing you pain 'refreshes' you then so be it. I don't however; wish upon any of my readers to go through such an experience for such limited results. So no I wouldn't recommend this particular facemask to anyone, in fact I think I would tell them to steer clear and try the Superdrug Pomegranate and Cranberries Peel off Face Mask instead! Because that one was super gentle, didn't have an overwhelming chemical smell (like the other peel off face mask by Montagne Jeunesse), AND it smelt super yummy I almost licked it!

And if anyone was wondering, it wasn't an allergic reaction because my face was fine after i washed it off.

Aveeno Daily Moisturising Lotion - fragrance free

I ran out of Palmers Body Lotion and came across this and though I'd give it a try. It says on the back of the tube:

" Daily Moisturising Lotion combines the concentrated goodness of finely-milled naturally active Colloidal Oatmeal with rich emollients. This unique formula is clinically proven to go beyond 24 hour moisturisation and replenish the skin's natural barrier function, to significantly improve the condition of the dry skin in just 2 weeks. Absorbs quickly and leave the skin looking and feeling soft, smooth and healthy."

So based on that I think I agree that it does keep my skin moisturised for quite a while throughout the day, but only up until I wash it off. It is also light and absorbs quickly after being massaged into the skin, which I like because the creamy feeling that you get from some lotions isn't very practical when you're applying it on your hands. However I think I do prefer the Palmers Body butter, as it is more moisturising and leaves my skin much softer, but this lotion is good for applying on my hands. If only it came is purse-sized bottles!

Shills Rose Water Eye&lips Makeup Remover

Yup you guessed it! I ran out of the Clinique Gentle Eye Makeup remover so I made use of this one. This product smells like roses, but it isn't overpowering either so it's suitable for your gentle eye area. The top half of the solution is the oils and the pink bit is where the magic is, so you need to shake the bottle to mix them up. I love the fact that it's pink too! Bonus points! I feel that this product isn't as good as the Clinique one though, because it takes a bit more effort to get my mascara off. So it's a decent gentle makeup remover and it's appealing, but I think I'd rather invest in a better one~

OPI Start to Finish Nail Stregthener

My Barry M nail strengthener/top&base coat went all gloopy and thick, so I chucked that out and thought I'd make an investment into a more refined one because I use it so often. This OPI one is super smooth and dries thinly, which is perfect for a base and top coat, but I'm still testing it out to see if it really helps to strengthen my nails.

Face masks

So recently I went to Superdrug and bought some facemasks to try, because I finished using the ones I ordered from Sasa (Olay) Which were super moisturizing so I'd recommend them for people with normal/dry skin, but I have oily/combination skin during and post summer. So I decided to look into mud masks and pore cleansing masks, which will help control my oily T-zone.

Clockwise from top left: Montagne Jeunesse Cucumber Peel Off Masque 99p, Mudd Original Deep Cleansing Mask 99p, Superdrug - Cooling Cucumber 89p, Superdrug - Self Heating Apricot 89p, Superdrug - Nurishing Chocolate 89p, Superdrug - Peel off face mask Pomegranate&cranberry 89p.

I'm so eager to get stuck in and try them all!! I use 1 facemask a week as a deep moisturiser/deep cleanser because you don't need it every day, so the first one I've used so far is the Montagne Jeunesse Peel Off Masque. It says on the packet that it is recommended for normal, oily, combination skin on t-zone/all over face peel, so you can just use it on your T-zone (forehead and nose) or just apply it all over your face. It comes out like a gel and it totally stunk of chemicals... in fact it was so bad that the smell alone stings and burns your eyes if you apply it around you eyes whilst they're open x.x You leave it on till it dries and you peel the whole thing off and wipe off the excess after. I think it really unclogged my pores, and acted like one big pore strip for my face. So once you get past the strong smell, you do get the benefits of the deep cleanse. When it dries it tightens up around your face, so if you don't like that then I won't recommend it for you. Overall, I think this brand it worth checking out, but I'm reluctant to buy the same mask.

Hm, which one to try next?? Hehe.

My current favourite mascara and reviews

The first mascara I can remember using was a Boots No.7 Intense mascara of some sort, and it only added a slight layer on each lash and then clumped :/

And then I upgraded to Urban Decay Sky Scraper (£13.70) mascara which does add a visible amount of lengthening, and no clumping with the clever shaped brush. The neck of the bottle squeezes off the excess and isn't too tight to make putting the wand back in a hassle.But then I finally reached my favourite mascara which I still love to this day the Maybelline Colossal Volume Express (£6.99) mascara, which I tried because of all the hype and I needed a new mascara anyway. So putting aside the bold colour of the packaging and the strange shape the creamy texture inside works like magic! With the special fibre technology in it, it makes my lashes look around 50% longer. However it doesn't hold the curl and it needs a quick comb through after application to remove any lumps and bumps!
So I'm planning on trying out the waterproof formula soon and compare it to see which one holds the curl more!

Now these are the mascaras that I'm currently using, the Max Factor mascara was almost an impulse buy and I just wanted to see if it matches the standards of the Maybelline Colossal Volume Express mascara since it had similar names and claimed to give 'full lashes, Natural look Mascara'. When I first applied it, it felt like I was using the Maybelline mascara, except it had slightly less lengthening effects but visibly less clumps. So I agree that it does give a natural full lash look and it is a great alternative if you don't want as much intensity as the Maybelline mascara.

I would recommend the Maybelline Great Lash mascara as a great lengthening mascara for the lower lashes as it doesn't add as much length and volume as the Falsies mascara but it adds enough length for my bottom lashes. I either use this mascara or the Urban Decay one depending on the finish look that I want.

And finally the last mascara is the Maybelline Falsies Mascara that came out soon after the Maybelline Colossal Volume Express mascara, and I was curious on how they were going to top the last mascara and how it would differ. I found that it was very similar to the Colossal Volume mascara except there was a spoon brush on it instead, and it still didn't hold the curl.

Body Scrub Reviews

My current obsession is with body scrubs!! It's pretty much the same as a facial scrub that you would use once a week to get rid of dead skin cells.. except that you use it all over, and it's not as gentle as a facial scrub (so I wouldn't recommend using it on your face!). So I'm embarking on a quest to find the best body scrub for myself :)

I used the Soap and Glory one first and woooow it left my skin feeling soooo smooth and soft! It wasn't sticky and it smells divine because of the sweet lime and almond oil in it. It says 'with smashed brown sugar, sweet lime, almond oil and macadamia grains' which I think most of it is mentioned in the ingredients list; so it is actually in it, and the rest is pretty much visible in the mix lol. I'm not too keen on eating almonds or macadamias but hell I'd use it as a body scrub anytime!! Haha~ Maybe people with nut allergies should avoid this though..
Anyways, it does contain oil in it like how a basic body scrub should have, but it if your using it in the shower like you should be (I use it in replace of my shower gel once a week) it should just wash right off so it's not uncomfortable at all. It does slightly lather so you can massage it easily into your skin, but the grains of stuff in it is pretty huge so personally I don't think it exfoliates very well. Also if you was to use it in the bath the huge grains of sugar and nuts will be left behind when you drain the tub so you gotta wash it down xD

Next is the current body scrub I'm using which is the Boots Botanics one. The first thing I noticed was the fine granules in it, and it's consistency is much more thicker. Kinda like a huge tub of lip balm, unlike the Soapy and Glory one which was like a gloopy paste of cake mix and oils (yummy). But the fine grains of sugar in it is something I like because you can feel it gently buffing away at your skin, I'd describe it as a nail file or sand paper haha! However I think that's the only thing I like about it aside form the fact that it's made of active plant extract. I don't like the feeling of it after you wash it off, because not only does it smell like soap.. it feels like a layer of soap on your skin afterwards! Now I know why it says 'Caution: Surfaces may become slippery after use.' And it recommends to use it in the bath, but it just makes the whole bath soapy and slippery. Frustrating!

So I won't be repurchasing Boots Botanics Moisturising Sugar Scrub because of the nightmare it causes, and I'd rather pay the extra £3.51 for a body scrub that not only smells nice and washes off without a hassle but leaves my skin much more smoother and moisturised!

Beads and findings - Online Shopping review

Okay so this is so off topic, but I think it's kinda useful if anyone wants to embark on creating their own pieces of jewellry :) If you follow my youtube vids you might have noticed in the info bar at the bottom there is '*name of jewellry* - made myself' and those are the items I have handmade myself! Keep reading if your interested in where I buy all the stuff~

I've recently been creating my own jewellry after being inspired by DSKjewelry, and also to the fact that sometimes I'd look at a pair of earrings or something in shops. And think to myself 'If only I could change this bit' or 'it'd be so much cheaper if I made one myself'. So I did!

I've ordered from 3 websites recently (All UK based, because I can't be bothered waiting for postage lol):

The Bead shop was the first website I bought off because I originally used to go to the shop directly before it closed. The prices are quite decent when it comes to buying chains or stringing materials and they have a reasonable selection of items. However if your looking for a specific item you might not find it on this website, and I don't think they stock items in request. Another con is that because it's quite a popular site they sell out of items quickly, but you can subscribe to be notified when they re-stock. They have excellent customer service as they reply to you within 48 hours if you e-mail them, I love a shop with good customer service because they can get back to your problems asap. Annndd they also have some very useful short tutorials on the website.

Mailorder beads are the best website to buy things in bulk or at a darn cheap price (the Swarovski crystal pearls), lovelove! :) They also have a large selection of items and it's easy to search and browse. I did have a problem with one of the items I ordered.... It's like they spilt ink on it or something, it can be cleaned though so I'm going to go at with a scrub lol.

Last but not least...
I ordered off this website because I was looking for a specific gold plated small heart bead.
Like this...The Stampings are so cute too! However for the lil gold hearts it's £1.13 for 4 which is pretty decent for gold plated beads, but the two in the pack that I received were deformed. Okay so it's in it's nature for beads to have a few bad apples. But it was unfortunate that I couldn't use them to make another set of friendship bracelets! One of the beads had a bit at the bottom missing, and the other had an uneven hole drilled which made threading leather string through it impossible =.='' I e-mailed them about this but they still haven't gotten back to me since 30th July lol xD So bad customer service, which makes me reluctant to buy from them again.... but their stuff is too cute @.@

Anywho on with the CLOGS! Firstly... I like the word you can rhyme it with everything haha. Besides that there has been quite a lot of negative views on clogs, which I'm assuming is due to the old style of clogs (clumpy frumpy and plain EW with no sense of style or closely associated with the kitten heel). However if it's been on the catwalks, it's definitely going to be translated to suit high street shop shelves!

Topshop - LAUREL Patent Buckle Clogs £68 in navey

Comfort and fit: 8/10
The huge platform and chunky heel make walking in them a breeze, but there's a gap where the arch of my foot is so it starts to hurt after a while. Also the fit where the buckles are too lose even though they're a size 3! I can make them a lil smaller though, which is alright. But it kinda alters the original look of it, which always annoys me.
There's a rubber layer on the bottom of it which means super grip! = no slips/trips
Brownie points for that! :)

Look: 6/10
The chunkiness makes your legs look slimmer, but it almost looks like my feet are out of proportion :/ Then again I quite like the overall look, it adds a quirky edge to any outfit. It's doesn't come in black which makes it hard to match up with clothes, but the other options are burgundy, nude and navy. Which I think you should just check your wardrobe before hand, and think which shade goes best with the majority of your clothes!


Overall I think it takes the right outfit and a lot of attitude to pull it off, not for the faint hearted! :)
You need to take a good look around to find the style that you like the best, as there are endless variations of the Clog, but it's an awesome way to update your outfit.

I love these eyelash curlers! They curl my eye lashes so well without over curling them so they go in that horrible bent angle. It gets most of my lashes (no curlers can ever get the small ones around the inner corner of your eye, you need the miniature curlers to do that)

Model's own nail polish review

But the most recent one I bought was Models Own in Peach Sherbet which is a nice nude colour that I've wanted for ages.

The colour comes out the same as when it's in the bottle, nice and pigmented. However.... I think the one I bought had been on the shelf in a while, coz it come out really thick and took 4 layers to make it smooth! Yes.. it was THAT thick and streaky :/

Anyone else had this problem?

BB cream & Eyelash essence review

So let's get stuck in....

BRTC - perfect protect system Jasmine water BB cream (60g), £25.50

I've been using the BRTC Jasmine water BB cream for just over a week now. It isn't sticky at all and it's light and absorbs very quickly, also the colour is like foundation. I use it like a tinted moisturiser and powder a lil mineral foundation over it for full coverage, because the BB cream has enough coverage to even out your skin and conceal blemishes. But if you have any dark sports such as freckles or moles it just lightens it slightly but doesn't offer the coverage that a load of liquid foundation would do. However even if you did put that much foundation on it'd most probably crease like hell xD So the overall coverage is excellent! It enabled me to just wear it without foundation at all when I'm in a rush and you can't tell the difference!
It says that it offers whitening, wrinkle repair and water replenishment functions. I haven't seen an improvement in the whitening department but I haven't been using it for long, but I don't really mind if it whitens or not as that's not really what I'm looking for right now. I can't tell if the wrinkle repair works or not as I don't have any wrinkles yet lol but it's better to prevent than cure!! And fiinnally the water replenishment is perfect as I think it does a slightly better job than my Simple Oil balancing moisturiser, at keeping my skin oil balanced. This means I only need to use a bit of blotting powder throughout the day. Oh and the bonus of the SPF 30 is perfect for the summery days to come!


Anosa Eyelash essence - £4.80

There is only a slight little fragrance to it which is nice and it doesn't sting your eyes. I've been using this after removing make up and before I sleep for a little over a week now. So far there isn't a huge difference, but I do feel that it helps moisturise my eyelashes and may have even lengthened and volumised my bottom lashes. But I haven't seen any added length to my top lashes yet. I'd recommend this for people that always have a coat of mascara on, so they'd benefit from the moisturises, but I'll keep using to see if there is any lengthening effect!
