DIY Egg Facial

I tried an egg facial today and followed how Michelle Phan did it because it was logical and she shows you how to use the whole egg rather than just the egg white :)
Check it out here - http://ricebunny.xanga.com/594800722/egg-mask/
At first I thought it was going to be really smelly and feel like slime on my face but it was a total opposite.

Before applying the beaten egg white, I rinsed my face with warm water and cleaned my face with a face wipe. I then went onto open my pores to allow the full effects of the egg facial. You don't need a professional face steamer to steam your face, you can just fill a bowl with boiled water or fill the sink with water from the hot tap and hang your head over it with a towel over your head for 10-15mins.

I then applied the beaten egg white all over my face for 10 mins and then rinsed it off with warm water. When the egg dries on your face it feels tight and smooth, no smell at all.
I think the egg white really does help to tighten your face, I didn't really see any visible brightening.. maybe a little bit?

To not waste the yoke I went on apply that to see if it really was moisturising. After 10mins I also washed that off with warm water and then closed my pores by rubbing an ice cube all over my face (don't apply ice directly to your eyes at it can damage the sensitive capillaries in your eyes)
I don't think the yoke moisturised or did anything to my face but it was worth a try.
As I didn't use all the egg I scrambled it in a pan and ate it :)

Overall, egg facials are good if you want a little lift and DIY pampering. Recommended if you don't have any fancy facials to use and it saves a lot of money!

Next DIY facial I will try this with honey!

Update and skincare

EDIT: Okay I found that E45 is actually quite thick, so if you can still feel it on your face after a few mins of application then it maybe too thick for your skin to absorb. So you might want to avoid it~

H
i, sorry there hasn't been an update in a while~ Everyone's busy prepping for university :)

So recently I have been using E45 Moisturising Lotion instead of my usual Soap and Glory Clear here oil control lotion. This is because I have decided to challenge the theory
'Some people have oily skin because it's the skins way of compensating for the lack of moisture'

I have combination skin where my t-zone is oily but my cheeks are normal, and I've found that when using creams and gels for oily skin twice a day on my face they don't do anything. After switching to E45 my skin hasn't been so oily and I only get a shiny t-zone at the end of the day, rather than an unbearable amount of oil production that I have to keep blotting. So creams for oily skin have only been making my skin worse by not moisturising it at all
. I think I will try to find a face cream that will give my skin enough moisture so that I don't get an oily t-zone anymore, but if you have oily skin too you should try switching up your face cream to a gentle moisturising one and see if there's a difference.

Why did I choose E45?
I wanted a very basic moisturiser that would be light and absorbed easily without all the chemicals that you might find in other popular brands. It's a good start anyway~

What it says on the label:
'E45 Lotion id light, unperfumed and can be used all over your body, face and hands to care for dry and sensitive skin. Use it everyday to help keep your skin soft, supple and moisturised and to prevent it from becoming dry.
The gently, hypoallergenic formulation is easily absorbed and can be used on even sensitive skin.
E45 Lotion is suitable for the whole family, including babies.

Perfume Free - Dermatologically Tested
Allergy Screen - Non Greasy
'

Ingredients:
Aqua, Petrolatum, Isopropyl Palmitate, Paraffinum Liquidum, Glyceryl Stearate, Ceteth-20, Hypoallergenic Anhydrous Lanolion (MedilanR), Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Carbomer, Propylparaben, Sodium Hydroxide, BHT.

Disclaimer: This is not an advertisement and I have not been requested/paid to review this product in anyway. It has been bought with my own money.

Update and Eye makeup removers

First post of 2011! I hope every had a great holiday whether it was celebrated with endless parties or just quiet nights in keeping snug and warm :)

I think I will be doing a slight new change to how I write posts now. So instead of writing upcoming posts that I possibly won't write at the end, instead I will just leave that out and just write as I go. And I mostly don't end up writing them because they simply didn't make much of an impression or it was just an average product xD
On to eye makeup removers!...

So I've tried a few eye makeup removers so far:
-Estée Lauder
-Boots Botanics
-Shills
-Clinique
-Boots No7
-Lanc
ôme

And my favourite one so far is Estée Lauder Gentle Eye Makeup Remover
£17, 100ml

I like this one because it effectively dissolves the make up almost straight away, so it doesn't smudge around your eyes. And it even removes waterproof mascara! It doesn't have any separate oil in it so you don't need to shake it up every time and it isn't too oily on the lids either. So now the Estée Lauder one is my staple eye makeup remover and will keep repurchasing it until I stumble upon a better one!
The least effective on the list as the Boots No7 one as it just smudged the make up around my eyes... I had panda eyes after every time I used it.

So now that I've found my all time favourite eye makeup remover, I'd recommend this one for people with oily/combination skin that loves to wear eye makeup and it's totally worth your £'s
